Kim Baston . . .
Kim Baston, traveling from Australia, presented both Peta Tait's paper, Extreme Athleticism and Aerial Acts and Jane Mullett's paper, Alternative Aerial Performance: Breaking with Tradition? Peta Tait is chair of Theatre & Drama at La Trobe University. Jane Mullett, RMIT University, is an expert on circuses, on the arts and politics. Her dissertation is on global circuses and Australia's contribution to the evolution of alternative circus. John Gilmore photograph.
Circus music is a particular interest of Kim Baston, but she also teaches general circus history and culture at the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne, and is currently researching for an article on John B. Ricketts career in Scotland just before he came over to America.
